The RUN-CHICKEN door is the best door that I believe you can buy on the market.  When we researched chicken doors, this brand had great reviews and decided to give it a try!!  If a door can work beautifully without a hitch in our Saskatchewan climate day after day without any issue with batteries, freezing up etc. gets a 5+ star rating.

This door is so easy to install, easy to operate and to program.  We had our girls set up on a 14 hour light cycle during the winter and our chickens never missed a beat.  The door would close 10 minutes after sunset and it worked like a charm!  They are a little pricy, but when you think about the quality and how many years daily use, they are definitely worth every penny!   We just purchased 3 more doors because we are in the process of making a larger 5th wheel to house more chickens with 2 breeding pens so that we can keep the chickens together all the time and provide to customers the eggs from the girls that we aren't breeding.

The Gorilla brand tarp that we used on our chicken tractor is another tired and true product in my eyes.  That tarp held up wonderfully for 3 seasons without even a tear, no fading and no stretching.  We did take it off for the winter and put it in storage and when we took it out of the shed after it had been folded all winter, came out like we had just unboxed it from the store!  We will be using it again on this exact coop that will house our 8 turkeys for the 2025 season!

WonEgg 70 Egg Incubator that we purchased at Uncle Weiner's here in Prince Albert.  Worked like a charm, had not one issue with the temperature, the humidity control or the instructions for use.

We put the foam on top as well to help insulate it and just had to fill the bottle up once in a while because it maintained the temperature and humidity so well.  It has an automatic count down and just does the work for you!!  My husband made our own light for candling the eggs because we took the eggs out of the incubator and put them in 30 egg trays to make it faster and more efficient.

This incubator hatched out 47 out of the 50 fertilized eggs and now is being used by our friends to try out to hatch their own eggs and they have not having any issues with it either.  Definitely  will be used again for smaller clutches because since then we have purchased a WonEgg 400 egger that I can't wait to fill up.  Will keep you posted on this incubator once we start it up!

McFeeter's Green Tree Bag Shavings are the best in my opinion to use for shavings in your coop!  Hemp shavings are so expensive and I could not source out what we needed for our coop and keep it affordable.  Peavey Mart carried these shavings when we first started out with our chickens and I honestly wasn't sure about them because they seemed so course and didn't really know much about wood shavings, but since we have had to use other brands since Peavey Mart closed I must say that I am sourcing out where I can find McFeeter's Green Tree Bag of shavings again!!  The other brands that are available to us now are just too fine and do not hold up and I go through 3 times the amount than what I would with McFeeter's.  The meat birds poop a lot - like I mean a lot and I am putting shavings down twice a day compared to once a day or every second day with McFeeter's!  We miss you Peavey Mart - we would love it if you came back to us!!
